Thats My Word!Give the 7 Year Old from 1982 a 50″ Plasma TV Flashback to 1982… I’m 7 years old living in Milwaukee and my favorite baseball team is in the World Series. Can the Brewers pull it off? My dad gets 2 tickets to one of the home games and I’m so excited. But wait… he’s taking my mom??! She doesn’t even like sports! This is a crushing defeat before the series has even begun. Instead, I get to watch only parts of the games on TV before having to go to bed early because I’ve got school in the morning. This sucks! So I sneak out into the hallway just out of sight and listen to the game. The Brewers have a 3-2 series lead! So stoked! But then the Cardinals come back and win the World Series 4 games to 3. What is this miserable pain in my gut? Why won’t this go away? Flash-forward to 2011. The Brewers win the Central pennant and clinch the #2 seed and home field advantage at least in the first round of the playoffs. Even if they make it to the World Series, there’s no way I could afford tickets to a game much less a flight and hotel on top of that. I’m married now so I understand why my dad took my mom. Maybe this time I can watch the playoffs on a 50″ plasma TV. What would the 7year old me listening to the game while my parents thought I was asleep think of such a sight? Maybe the Brewers can win it all this year…
